Fashion Watch The Burberry Prorsum And Erdem Fall 2013 Shows

Burberry Prorsum

Christopher Bailey of Burberry Prorsum called his fall 2013 collection Trench Kisses, suggesting a seductive, even a sexual mood, to the clothes. But how do you make the classic Burberry trench coat sexy? Bailey did this by replacing the sleeves or the skirt with latex. Or creating a trench coat entirely in latex. He also sent down several pieces made from latex including a tight see-through pencil skirt worn over panties with a heart print. Sexy, playful, suggestive.

Erdem Moralioglu is known to be a colorist, his collection bursting with beautiful hues. And so it was such a surprise when he showed his fall 2013 collection in shades of black and deep reds. Still, it was a beautiful collection. A designer exploring his dark side. You can surmise that some of the looks were inspired by Hitchcock heroines given the shapes. And it isn’t an Erdem collection with those floral prints, some created using pailletes.

The Burberry Prorsem looked eminently wearable, beautifully tailored. I’d have most every look in the show. As to Erdem-I had the feeling he was channeling the clothes from old Carol Burnett re-runs. I can’t imagine anyone wearing these gladrags on the street. Even the models looked embarrassed and they didn’t give the appearance of being particularly well-made. The ’50s called…they DON’T want their look back!
