In Hong Kong this week for the opening of her boutique at IFC mall in Central, the jeweler Solange Azagury-Partridge (famous for her HotLips ring and that geometric- Art Deco-ish necklace Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw was wearing on the opening scene of the second installment of the Sex And The City movie) shares with Style Intel the Five Things She Cannot Live Without.
1. Jewels
2. The visual arts
3. Regular holidays
4. A good skirt. I like to wear black because it is a good backdrop for jewelry.
5. A great restaurant
British jeweler Solange Azagury-Partridge (The biggest misconception about me is that I’m French. Perhaps because of my name. But I’m a Brit.) got into the jewelry business when she started working at Butler & Wilson. From there she developed her love for designing jewelry working at Cartier and Boucheron. Her first ever designed was her own engagement ring. She left Boucheron to concentrate on her own line. “You get a good variety of things in my line. It’s not monotonous. There’s a lot of different designs.”
Her store in Hong Kong is filled with rich, deep colors, from the fabric covered walls to the velvet upholstered chairs, from the rainbow-hued carpet to the dramatic floral ceiling adornments. “I like to be visually busy. I like to have a lot to look at. I don’t like minimalist interiors.”
Solange’s designs are a favorite of stylish and individual women like Tilda Swinton and Thandie Newton. Fashion magazines also like to photograph her pieces because of their unique designs and because they are quite the statement-maker.
