Fiona Kotur, the minaudiere revivalist, started her thriving handbag empire, Kotur, from the living room of her home in Hong Kong. What started as a small collection of evening bags made from bolts of vintage Chinese brocade fabric has developed into a full-blown line of evening and day bags that have been seen on the arms of the likes of Renee Zellweger, Aerin Lauder, Marina Rust, Marisa Tomei and many other A-list actresses and socialites. Fiona recently announced a collaboration with J. Crew and she will soon appear on HSN with a special extension line. Before moving to Hong Kong and launching her bag label, Fiona, a Wellesley and Parson graduate, had design stints at Ralph Lauren and Old Navy.
Here, other than the five men in her life (her husband and four sons), she shares the five things she cannot live without…
1. Black and blue Pilot fountain pens and Pentel automatic pencils—always a sharp point. Disposable but coveted.
2. Schweitzer high thread count sheets, a terribly expensive habit introduced to me by my husband. They need to be hand ironed, but no turning back once you start so beware.
5. My iPhone. I know everyone says it, but between the internet, phone, email, camera, iPod and Shazam, it’s the most useful and entertaining tool I own.
